All sound devices with the exception of my USB powered speakers are disabled. Since then I've reordered a new Rocksmith 2014 cable from Amazon ( ) and I am still running into the same problem.

UPDATE - So its been a month now since this thread was posted. Now I just use the old cable on Xbox, and the new cable on PC. Allegedly, the cables for Rocksmith 2014 are identical to those that came with the original Rocksmith, so I don't really know why this solved the problem. The new cable works 100% of the time in any of the USB slots (including USB 3.0). I don't get the hocksmit error, but it often shows up as a generic audio device and Rocksmith won't see it.įinally, I just bought a new cable from Amazon. I can get the cable work much more consistently this way. Although, it's still finicky and requires repeated attempts to avoid the hocksmit error.Įventually, I got a powered USB hub from Amazon. If I turn of USB 3.0 in my BIOS, I can get the cable to work. The cable works fine on Xbox 360 and Xbox One, but I've struggled getting it to work on my PC. I have a RealTone cable that I got with the original game when I bought it around the time of launch for Xbox 360. In Device Manager, the RealTone cable shows as I too am on windows 10, but had no issues with a clean install. The no front panel ports thing may not be needed, but others have mentioned in the past that they have more luck going direct to the mobo - I personally have my every day RT cable on a rearpanel/direct board port and use a front panel port for the 2nd cable when in multiplayer mode. If after checking them - and that you are using a USB 2.0 port directly on the mobo, not a front panel port - you still have hassles, go into your bios and disable xHCI, since that seems to be the common fix for most people getting similar issues. (you can uncheck these later if you have a reason to, but for fault checking, best to have them activated). If it's the RealTone cable input problem - check that the cable is also set for 1 channel, 16bit 48khz and that the allow / take exclusive control options are ticked. You mention an output error in the title, those are normally fixed by making sure your default audio output device is set to 16 bit, 48khz DVD quality. I remember my device manager showing the Rocksmith driver as 'ocksmith' or something else spelled wrong. I have read that people try buying a powered USB 3.0 hub and it works for them too when they don't have a USB-C port or adapter. It works fine on my laptop on the USB 3.0 port.

Oddly enough when I plug my external 1TB drive that requires full USB power, it works just fine. It has to have something to do with the amount of power the USB 3.0 and lower ports are putting out. In the end, I used my USB to USB-C adapter that came with my Galaxy S9 phone and plugged it into the USB-C port directly into the motherboard and it worked instantly. No matter what I did, what settings I changed in the BIOS or Windows, nothing worked. I verified the local files under Rocksmith 2014.Ī little while back, Windows 10 pushed an update that messed up the way my USB ports see the real tone cable for whatever reason. Rocksmith loaded just fine and other steam games work. I tried different devices in the USB ports and those work fine. I have two cables, both of which were working before these updates. I raised the levels to 100% on the mic/cable. I reinstalled the driver of the cable (my computer recognizes it). My realtone cable is not working, or there's a setting that I'm missing.there is no sound coming out of my guitar. The music plays (so my speakers are working). I also believe steam updated but long before that and everything was fine.

So, my pc did a windows 10 update yesterday. ***** SOLVED***** For those with the new Windows 10 update make sure you've gone into the cable sound options, turned the levels up, changed the quality to DVD, but also when opening your sound options make sure 'allow desktop apps access to your microphone' is ENABLED.
